The daughter of both a retired human mercenary and an alien princess, Tatiana Valentine's life of pomp, education and incredible privilege is lost when a revolution on her homeworld forces her—and what's left of her family—to flee for their lives. Her father's fate, however, remains unknown, and he is feared dead.

Now Tatiana faces a grim and gritty existence evading bounty-hunters, revolutionaries and ghosts from her father's past. Her most potent challenge, however, is to deal with her fear and pain, and to try and face it with her father's bravery and resilience.
